Winter Peace

I create paper castings all through the year so that I will have them on hand when I need a quick card or gift. Doing them by the batch saves me a lot of time and mess. Sometimes I add stitching and/or tiny beads like I did on the snowman. Because I had the casting made ahead of time, these two Christmas cards took less than 5 minutes each to put together - less time than it will take me to write the message inside.

 

Supplies

·       Any of the Arnold Grummer® paper making kits

·       Blender, strainer, cello sponges and soft towels

·       A sunny window

·       Scraps of white paper (think junk mail, etc.)

·       AGCP Snowman mold, Acrylic ornament Angel to use as a mold

·       Scraps of white card stock to die cut

·       The PaperCut™ dark blue cardstock for the bases, envelopes to fit cards

·       Dies: Quiet Fire Designs™  ECD #1238 “Peace”, ECD #1199 “Winter” (4 Seasons)

·       Spellbinders^TM Grand Calibur™ die cutting and embossing machine

·       Christmas theme embossing folder (snowflakes, holly, etc.)

·       Westcott™ paper trimmer

·       Scor-Pal™

·       Beacon ZipDry^TM & QuickGrip™ adhesive

·       ColorBox® medium blue Chalk™ ink pad, Stylus™ handle & tips

·       Dark blue seed beads, orange embroidery floss, needle

Instructions:

1.     Follow the instructions found in any of the Arnold Grummer™ paper making kits to create white slurry and cast one or more of the snowman and angel. 

2.     Allow the casting to dry.

3.     Use the Stylus handle & tip to to lightly apply the dark blue Chalk™ ink to the Angel casting.

4.     Stitch the beads onto the snowman as buttons.

5.     Use the orange floss to stitch the hatband and the carrot nose on the snowman.

6.     Cut, score and fold the dark blue card stock to create 4 ¼ x 5 ½” cards.

7.     Emboss the fronts of the cards with the Christmas embossing folders.

8.     Die cut the words “Peace” & “Winter” from scraps of white cardstock.

9.     Attach the paper castings to the bottom center card front with QuickGrip™ adhesive.

10.  Attach the die cut words centered above the paper castings (Winter for the snowman and Peace for the Angel) with ZipDry™ adhesive.

11.  Write your message inside the card with a white pen.

12.  Mail in a padded envelope or hand deliver.

Wings of Angels

Both of my sisters collect Angels and Penguins. I know, I know - two so totally different things (just like they are). I try to add to both of their collection every year. These two Angel pieces can be left out all year, and will be perfect to place in a small decorative easel. Who knows, perhaps I will also find new Penguins for them too.

Supplies

·       Any of the Arnold Grummer® paper making kits

·       Blender, cello sponges and soft towels

·       A sunny window

·       Scraps of off white paper (think junk mail, etc.)

·       Dried grasses or herbs

·       Scraps of Kraft colored chip board to die cut (I used the back of cereal boxes)

·       Scraps of tissue paper to stamp on

·       Dies: Creative Expressions™/Sue Wilson™  #CED3001 2014 Christmas Angel, # CED3016 2015 Christmas Angel

·       Tonic Studios™ Tangerine die cutting and embossing machine

·       Tonic Studios™ paper trimmer

·       Scor-Pal™ Scor-Tape™

·       Beacon ZipDry^TM adhesive, double sided foam tape

·       Substrate: 5 x 7” boxes (these were from some old acrylic frames)

·       Quiet Fire Designs™ stamp #5959 “I will write Peace on your wings and you will fly all over the world.”

·       ColorBox® dark brown Chalk™ ink pad

·       Tonic Studios™ #810N Cosmic Brown Nuvo Embellishment Mousse™

Instructions:

1.     Follow the instructions found in any of the Arnold Grummer™ paper making kits to create off white slurry with inclusions and create one or more sheets of light weight handmade paper. 

2.     Allow the paper to dry.

3.     Cover all areas of the 5 x 7 boxes with the paper using Scor-Tape™ or ZipDry™ adhesive.

4.     Stamp the saying onto the tissue paper.

5.     Die cut the two Angels from the chip board.

6.     Apply the Cosmic Brown Nuvo Mousse to the Angels

7.     Attach the Angels to the coverd boxes with double sided foam tape.

8.     Tear the edges of the stamped tissue paper and attach to the boxes with ZipDry™ adhesive.

9.     Place each Angel box on a small easel to display.
